TOUR ROUTE OF TONG SALA – BAAN TAI – BAAN KAI – HAAD RIN
WAT KHAO
TAM
There is a concrete road leading to the Wat khao Tam, which is located
on top of Khao Khow Haeng Mountain.
Actually this is not a temple yet, it is still a monk shelter, but very
well known - worldwide -, especially among foreigners, as a training
place for deep meditation. The wat is very cool, calm and peaceful. From
the admiring view point you can enjoy a panoramic outlook of the whole
sea and locations below. If you want to pay homage to the big reclining
Buddha image just go up the mountain and enjoy the amacing atmosphere.
HAAD BAAN TAI
It is also a beautiful beach where you can see places located far away
as Koh Samui, Koh Tae Nai or Koh Taenok.
Baan Tai beach is one of the good places to enjoy the beauty of a
sunset. This is where you can have a good look at a very old way of
life, which is still maintained. Such old activities as shelling
coconuts and offshore fishing can be
seen everyday.
There is a wharf onto which fresh fish are unloaded and for sale right
beside the sea. Along the seashore are accommodations available.
Normally there are plenty of rooms for rent, except during the full moon
night party, when you have to reserve rooms in advance.
HAAD BAAN KAI
This beach is close to Baan Tai with a Muslim community. It is told that
in those days, around 1858, there was
a gold mine here; the government in that time recruited many strong men
from Chaiya (currently a district in Surat Thani)
and Muang Nakorn (Nakhon Si Thammarat) to work in the mine. Most of the
men were Muslim, who later settled at the beach
after the mine finished.
Like in Baan Tai are here many accommodations available as this beach is
very close to Had Rin and mostly booked out over
the full moon period.
The name Haad Tong Yang seems to be more familiar among tourists.
HAAD HIN NOR, HAAD BANGSON AND HAAD RIN NAI
These beaches are very close to each other. They are private, but open
to those who want to stroll along the beach.
They are not crowded. The western one calls Haad Hin Nor, the middle one
Haad Bangson, and in the east, Had Rinnai.
There are a lot of residences for tourists. Some are built on rock
formations, others crudely built with simple materials.
The beach is an ideal place to go swimming; however, the most suitable
time is during November – April each year.
HAAD RIN NOK
This is where the worldwide famous Full Moon Party takes place. The
party is set for every day of full moon, when tourists from Koh Tao and
Koh Samui come together at Haad Rin Nok.
Haad Rin Nok is a long, semicircle beach with very white fine sand. It
is considered the most beautiful beach of Phangan Island and is
therefore the most popular among tourists. But be warn as there is not
much shade to hide from the sun and quiet busy also.
All kinds of accommodation are available at the Haad Rin Nok as hotels,
bungalows, resorts, guesthouses. However, for those who want to stay
HAAD RIN NAI
This beach is connected with Haad Hinlor and Haad Bangson; the types of
residences provided are also much like those at the two beaches.
Here is where a pier was built to facilitate tourists between Samui and
Phangan.
Tourists are very well served by Haad Rin Queen, they offers 4 trips a
day between the two islands.
Probably the most comfortable and convenient residence near the pier
HAAD SIKANTANG
The beach here is famous and beautiful with fine and white sand as well
as clear and clean water. Also rows of
coconut trees are grown naturally along the beach very unique to
tropical region. They help create peaceful atmosphere.
The beach is said to be most suitable for swimming at any time of the
day. HAAD YUAN – HAAD YANG – HAAD YAO (THE
EAST ONE)
These are all beaches in the east where without
accessible roads; if you want to reach the beaches you have to hire a
long-tailed boat. From Haad Rin Nok you will arrive at Had Yuan, where
you can get a rest for a while before furthering your trip. Only a short
distance away and you will see a waterfall. Here you can stay overnight,
but ther are not many residences available. |
